The DIR (Digital Instrumentation Recorder) format invented by Sony, consists of two versions, one with 3/4″ DD1 tape based on the D-1 Video format, the main model is the DIR-1000, and another with tape 1/2″ based on the Betacam Digital video format, with the DIR-120 and DIR-240 models.
