GOP (Group of Pictures)

A GOP, group of images refers to a sequence consisting of frames of type I, B and P in the MPEG signal.

For an edition of an MPEG signal, only one frame I (frames with complete information) is used.

In MPEG-2 transmission, normally a GOP consists of 12 frames in PAL and 15 frames in NTSC.
