ITU-R 601 defines the technical specifications for components Y (luminance), R-Y (red minus luminance) and B-Y (blue minus luminance).

The signals in digital components are scanned with a sampling frequency of 4:2:2, where 4 belongs to the luminance and the rest to the chrominance.

The scanning frequency of the luminance is 13.5 MHz, and the value of each chrominance component is 6.75 MHz. The digital data frequency is 22 MB/s = 168 Mb/s.
