Latina TV, at the Forefront with Robotic Technology
Latina TV has taken a significant step by becoming the first Peruvian channel to implement a 100% robotic system for studio cameras. This technological milestone has been made possible thanks to Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales (TSA) serving as the integrator and technology partner. After a rigorous evaluation of the most advanced solutions on the market, LATINA, together with its technology partner TSA, selected Vinten’s technology as the ideal option to improve audiovisual production.
The solution implemented at Latina TV consists of three robotic systems from Vinten, aimed at optimizing the production of daily newscasts and Sunday programs in the news studio. Each of these systems includes a robotic pedestal, capable of moving on the XY plane and adjusting height, as well as a robotic head that controls the camera’s pan and tilt movements. Additionally, they feature an advanced tracking system for identifying and following presenters, using software with artificial intelligence (AI) technology for facial recognition and motion detection.
Studio cameras, teleprompters, and, on one of them, an augmented reality system, have been mounted on these robotic pedestals. The project has also included the installation of video monitors for the presenters, placed below the teleprompters, ensuring a clean, orderly, and integrated setup.
One of the most outstanding features of Vinten‘s systems is their ability to operate manually, similar to a traditional pedestal. This functionality has been vital during the installation process and transition from manual to automatic operation and remains crucial in situations of power outages, software maintenance, or any unexpected event.
With this implementation, Latina TV not only improves the efficiency and quality of its productions but also sets a precedent in the Peruvian television industry, demonstrating the positive impact of robotic technology in the media.
