RTVE awards Telefónica the satellite distribution of its signal in Asia and Oceania

Radio Televisión Española, the Spanish public broadcaster, once again entrusts TSA with the broadcasting of its international free-to-air programming warding the company the radio and television broadcasting service for the continents of Asia and Oceania.

The Spanish Corporation of Radio and Television (RTVE) is the Spanish public company whose mission is to offer and guarantee the public radio and television service owned by the Spanish state. Specifically, for its clients abroad, it offers regionalised international satellite channels according to geographic area.

The service awarded to TSA is based on the collection at the RTVE facilities in Torrespaña of the “TVE International Asia” video signal and the “RNE Radio Exterior de España” (Spanish National Radio Outside of Spain) radio signal for the diversified transport to the teleport. These signals are subsequently broadcast across the territory comprising of the continents of Asia and Oceania through the Asiasat-5 satellite, using the C band frequency.

This service, which will begin on 6th June, joins the analogous services that TSA has been providing RTVE broadcasting its international signals in the regions of North America, Latin America, Africa and Europe for years. In addition, the historic relationship between the two companies is underpinned by numerous other agreements and services related to signal transport, content digitalisation and the provision of audiovisual equipment.

RTVE plans to update its international broadcasts, previously made available in SD format, to adapt them to standard HD, which implies a higher resolution in the video signal and therefore a better viewing experience for all its clients located in Asia and Oceania.
