Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales, TSA, takes part once again in a TM Broadcast breakfast in which it is studied the relevant role of the audiovisual solutions in the new sporting arenas. The breakfast, that was held in the recently inaugurated Hotel Four Seasons Madrid, gathered a good bunch of technological-sportive representatives.

In this new session have intervened: Yeray Alfageme (Service Manager in Olympic Channel) as moderator and as speakers: Sergio Sánchez (Head of TV Production in LaLiga), Luis María López (Technical Director in WiZink Center) and Javier Latorre (Head of the Audiovisual Department in Valencia F.C.). As providers, have also intervened Pablo Herrero (Head of Business Unit EMEA in Vizrt), Manuel Martínez (Sales Director for Spain in Tedial), Óscar Valero and Jose María Penalba (Product Manager and Technical Director of Gaplasa respectively) and by Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales: Asier Anitua (Business Development Manager) and Nayra Velayos (Key Account Manager).

The breakfast has started with an interesting debate regarding the most appreciate technologies in the sporting arenas by the fans. A positive user experience includes a high quality WiFi, screens circuit with interesting video content about the event, info-entertainment, audio with quality, and over all connectivity, where 5G is positioned as the technology that will change the connectivity concept as we know it.

In respect of public address system it is very important that the sound is of maximum quality to “embrace” the visitor. The trend of events attendance is to stay more and more time into the stadiums, a very North American model. To offer the whole experience the upgrade of the old arenas is required, with ancillary services and pushing forward user experiences thanks to the new technologies.

The technical area is considered key for this new model that rages from 5G, to Artificial Intelligence and machine learning and automatisms managed by a MAM system such as Tedial Evolution and that allows a documentalist, by instance, to detect a goal, to analyse it and to quickcly discover that it is very similar to another one from years ago offering it to the user. Before machines revolution and artificial intelligence the only way to do it was in a rudimentary way, with 100% manual processes as well as handmade registering and indexing of all the historic goals.

Evaluating if the way contents are produced has changed, LaLiga is starting to work with new Workflows and auto-clipping tools, so that clips generation can be automated, as well as graphics adding in a centralized way with data from the game based on autotracking, an early development phase projected into the future.

COVID-19 has deeply affected content production and generation, forcing clubs to adopt  different and ingenious ways to produce content, such us, for example, Valencia F.C. that produces from the distance, with remote production and mobile telephones, generating viral videos with nutritionists, psychologists or the players themselves, with a surprise to health team or interviews conducted by their own fans. All this situation has highlighted the importance of the archive, the cloud or the remote production, amongst others.

Since pandemic raised, the relevance of “dialog” with the viewers is clear, where creative formulas are sought to stay in touch with them despite the situation, actions such as to drive the interaction in social media, which will be further reinforced when the attendees come back to the facilities.

Contents offer infinite possibilities, it is needed to study and detect how to take the most of them, as in the example Asier Anitua raises to the breakfast participants: “Now there is a growing tendency in the USA. If you pay a few dollars to a known actor, he sends you a 30 seconds invitation. Imagine that Messi makes a congratulation for you since you have won a draw and he has a message only for you in the video scoreboard. If I am the fan, tears come to my eyes. These kind of things are simple, and almost free. They are, in definitive, a huge opportunity of engagement and business”.

It is still to be invented and found many applications to all this technology that is appearing and evolving. The acceleration of the digitization in all the sectors is a real engine in the economy and this, in stadiums and sportive solutions translates in a higher and better monetization of the spaces. For all this, TSA, as technological partner can contribute technology at the service of fans and the companies that administrate and manage these facilities.

From TSA, we will go on looking for new ways to add value to the contents!
