Telefónica will supply and install the audiovisual equipment in the Parliament of Catalonia’s halls.

Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales has been awarded Lot 1 of the technological renovation project of the audiovisual installations in the Chamber and other halls of the Parliament of Catalonia, which will allow the broadcasting and diffusion of its audiovisual signal in High Definition.

The obsolete and ageing audiovisual equipment currently in operation in the Parliament of Catalonia, most of which date back to 2002, affect some of the most prominent services of parliamentary activity with the greatest social repercussion: the production and holding of chamber sessions.

For this reason, the Parliament needed to contract the supply and installation of all the necessary materials to renew and update the audiovisual equipment of the Chamber and the other parliamentary halls, in order to carry out a high-definition compatible production, a system in which the main TV channels and other entities that offer the institutional television service already broadcast.

The Parliament of Catalonia aims to update the equipment that allows, on the one hand, to view, listen to, record and disseminate its members interventions, and, on the other, to generate the unique audio and television signal of the sessions and events that take place in the chamber, which is the main source for the media.

Thanks to this new infrastructure, the sessions and public events that take place in Parliament will be available to all citizens, who can follow them through both live and deferred broadcasts on the parliament’s channel, “Canal Parlament”, the institutional web and mobile applications and also on all media outlets, which can replay these contents as both live and deferred broadcasts.

The project awarded to TSA consists of Lot 1: “Supply and installation of new audiovisual equipment for the Chamber and the rest of the halls to carry out the production, transport and distribution of the institutional television signal in high definition”, which is made up of a completely robotic HD camera system operated via remote control for the plenary hall as well as the audiovisual equipment of the production controls in each one of the plenary rooms, composed mainly of audio and video mixers, technical monitoring of audio and video, multi-screen and intercom system that allows the communication between all the technical control rooms in the Parliament. The project also includes two differentiated and integrated transport networks, an audio network that allows for the integration of the video system with the audio system and another that transports the video signals through a proprietary IP-based system that offers a decentralised solution for the transport and distribution of the generated signals via fibre-optics. The entire system is complemented by a management layer and system orchestrator that allows for the monitoring, control and switching between the devices, and of the integrated audio and video network.
