Telefónica will revamp the Senate cataloguing and video edition system

Telefónica has been awarded the contract for the renewal of the Senate cataloging and video edition system for its uploading on the Internet.

The Senate has decided to renew its storage and sessions publishing videos IT system  being Telefónica in charge of carrying out this renewal of the cataloguing and video creation system for its publication on the Internet.

Telefónica’s project, which will last approximately 6 months, will be based on a software platform developed to suit the specific needs required by the Senate, which its previous tool did not meet, thus solving the limitations in the current live cataloguing flow. The new system allows carrying out in a simple, fast and semi-automatic way the documentation and pre-catalogation of the Senate sessions for further archiving and uploading on the web. The new implemented workflow will be similar to the current one, but it will be much more agile and effective, according to Senate specific needs.

The supply that Telefónica will deliver is composed of different hardware and software elements, as well as the associated services that allow the video cataloguing of the House of Commons sessions, both the general plenary session as well as the different interventions that are published in semi-live and streaming on the web. This includes the video files generation of every issue and intervention in streaming quality, the generation and delivery of metadata to the parliamentary management system for its immediate uploading on the Senate website and the generation of metadata that allows a perfect high quality ingested videos cataloguing under the control of the Media Asset Management, within the image and sound acquisition, treatment, storage and distribution system the Senate currently has. The project also integrates this platform with the video servers and production media manager existing in the Senate.

Telefónica will provide all the documentation that allows to understand the nature of the work carried out, which will include all the required information for the correct contents production, operation, use, monitoring of the installed and developed systems and its maintenance, as well as detailed technical documents of every developed system modules. Additionally, the knowledge transfer will be carried out through face-to-face consultancy in the Senate that allows House technicians to have the necessary information to implement the project.
