Through a public tender awarded to Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales (TSA), the Senate undertakes the renovation and reconfiguration of the current installation for the reception and distribution of its internal television signal.

The Senate is currently equipped with an analog radiofrequency (RF) television signal reception and distribution system, through which DVB-T and DVB-S signals are distributed, as well as its own production signals. The new installation designed by TSA seeks greater effectiveness, efficiency and quality in signal distribution thanks to the incorporation of new technologies.

In the new project, the internal distribution of television channels in the Senate is carried out in three ways: in DVB-T through the existing RF installation, through IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) and through the current data network.

To undertake the renovation, TSA has replaced the signal reception equipment, both terrestrial (UHF antennas) and satellite (parabolic antennas), as well as the installation of a fully manageable and programmable headend. The new headend allows terrestrial DVB-T/T2 and satellite DVB-S/S2 reception, reception of own production signals through the Senate’s data network and their subsequent distribution both by RF and IP. Likewise, the Senate’s current TV sets have been partially replaced by new professional SmartTV units, with “hotel mode” function and compatible with IPTV technology.

In addition to the installation and integration services of the new system, TSA includes, as an added value to the project, a technical training, maintenance and technical support service for the system for a period of 5 years.
