Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales has been awarded the project to upgrade and support the digital archive platform of the Extremaduran public broadcaster. The solution, based on Quantum’s StorNext, will enhance the system’s capacity, performance and scalability over the next five years.

Canal Extremadura has entrusted Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales with the comprehensive upgrade of its digital archive platform, which is key to the management and preservation of its audiovisual content. The project is based on Quantum’s StorNext solution, a leading technology in high-performance, scalable storage.

The initiative includes the replacement of all critical system components: new storage enclosures with SSD drives for metadata management, next-generation Quantum Xcellis NAS+SAN heads, high-speed FC switches, and updated StorNext licensing. The objective is to ensure the system’s operability and official support, significantly improve its performance, and lay the foundations for future expansions.

Quantum’s solution enables higher transfer speeds, greater data integrity security, and optimised content access, even in demanding environments. In addition, the project includes seamless migration services, integration with the Quantum Scalar i6000 tape system — an enterprise-class library renowned for its high capacity, security and efficiency — comprehensive technical support, and specialised training for Canal Extremadura staff.

The project’s comprehensive approach, which includes support services, preventive and corrective maintenance, along with a tailored training plan, ensures a smooth transition to the new environment and uninterrupted operability over the next five years.

This renewal reinforces TSA’s commitment to the public audiovisual sector, delivering advanced archiving solutions that combine reliability, performance, and scalability. With Quantum’s technology as its foundation, Canal Extremadura is well-positioned to meet today’s digitalisation challenges, preserving its valuable audiovisual heritage with next-generation standards.
