EiTB strengthens its virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) system with the support of TSA
Through a public tender awarded to Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales (TSA), EITB Media is launching a new technological renewal process aimed at enhancing its capabilities in virtual and augmented reality environments. The new project includes both the integration of new certified hardware into its current graphics platform and the provision of specialised technical services.
EITB Media currently holds a licence for the “Viz Virtual Studio” software from the manufacturer Vizrt, which has served as the foundation of its graphics and titling platform at its production centres in Bilbao and Miramon. With the advancement of augmented, virtual, and extended reality technologies, the organisation aims to reactivate and strengthen these capabilities in its studios, making use of both the licences already acquired and the expertise accumulated by its technical teams. In this context, it has launched a new public procurement process aimed at updating its infrastructure and expanding its creative possibilities in television staging.
The project includes the reactivation and configuration of the existing “Viz Virtual Studio” licence, including the calibration and integration into the system of a PTZ-type camera and a crane-type camera with infrared tracking. With this initiative, the aim is to adapt the Bilbao and Miramon studios to the new creative dynamics demanded by contemporary audiovisual production.
The renewed virtual production system is complemented by the acquisition and integration of a new engine capable of real-time rendering of 2D and 3D graphics, with support for multiple high-definition signals. The addition of an extra workstation, equipped with the same manufacturer’s rendering software, enhances operational capacity and optimises the redundancy of the end-to-end graphics generation solution.
To ensure the effectiveness of the deployment, the project includes on-site technical services for system configuration in the studios, taking into account the specific dimensions and characteristics of each space.
The project also includes a training plan for technical and creative staff, as well as a two-year warranty period covering technical support, replacements and repairs, incident management, and the supply of spare parts.
EITB Media’s commitment to this comprehensive Vizrt solution, integrated by Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales, not only allows for making full use of existing licences but also consolidates a scalable and sustainable infrastructure, with reduced implementation times thanks to the team’s prior experience. With this new investment, the organisation continues to drive innovation in television staging, embracing more dynamic and immersive set designs that meet the expectations of today’s audiences.
