Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales (TSA), in collaboration with ATEME, is providing the software and professional services needed to expand Movistar+ platform headend in its Simancas and Tres Cantos hubs.

The aim of the project is to achieve greater development and geo-redundancy of TV headends that serve Movistar+. This will allow the convergence of IPTV and OTT services in both centres, increasing the processing capacity of the platform’s different channels.

In Simancas, TSA is installing a new IPTV/OTT platform with the latest technologies and processing capabilities. The aim of this installation is to gradually replace the current encoding situation and to meet future growth needs.

In Tres Cantos, the existing platform will be extended with additional software for the live OTT packaging stage, completing a homogeneous technological solution in both headends in a convergent manner, with the best technology on the market to meet the functional and design requirements of Movistar+ service.

The configuration of both headends covers all elements required for development and full execution of the project, from the appropriate HD/UHD signal encoding licences and packaging licences, to configuration, commissioning and support for annual validation tests.

Thanks to this project, TSA provides the Movistar+ platform with geo-redundant capacity for greater reliability in its IPTV/OTT content distribution service, as well as the latest signal processing technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques and data pre-processing.
