Telefónica Servicios Audiovisuales (TSA) is responsible for implementing Teatro Real’s equipment renewal project to provide it with a new IP audio routing, mixing and post-production systems over an optic-fibre network infrastructure.

TSA, a pioneer integrator of IP broadcast audio and video solutions, developed the project based on a needs assessment carried out by Teatro Real’s audiovisual department, Lawo’s Spanish distributor, as a specialist in this type of solution, to carry out both the field engineering and the detailed planimetry.

The aim of the project was to install an audio system adapted to new technological standards in order to provide a higher quality service. The new installation offers greater reliability and redundancy in the event of failure, compatibility with third-party equipment and an appropriate after-sales service, all of which will improve the final quality of theatrical productions.

For the routing, processing, mixing and distribution of the signal, TSA plans technical solution with Lawo equipment, with a 100% native audio over IP infrastructure that distributes all audio resources to all elements of the system. In this way, it is possible to create an optimised IP environment that also communicates with the theatre’s other infrastructure and offers the possibility of parallel external productions.

In terms of the network infrastructure, TSA is proposing a spine and leaf distribution with Cisco electronics, which will give the installation a high level of redundancy and quality. The project also includes the renovation of all the cabling with the installation of a new fibre optic network, including the renovation of the trays and connection boxes in the various functional areas, in order to provide interconnection between all the rooms in the building.

A complete Avid Protools audio post-production system with input/output interface and audio monitoring processing, including a physical control surface, will complete the equipment, paving the way for an immersive Dolby Atmos audio experience in addition to signal recording.

A renovation of infrastructures that represents a before and after in the multiple services offered by the Real, from the service and production of events on stage to the creation of outdoor screens or contribution to other productions, and that allows it to be at the forefront of technology to offer its audiences a staging of the highest quality.
